Every heavenly calling is by Divine appointment. In John 6:64,65 the bible says, "But there are some of you that believe not." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray Him. And He said, "Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." From that time many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him. Read verses 36 and 37 of the same chapter, it says, "But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." Verse 44 says, "no man can come to me except the Father which as sent me draw him: And I will raise him up at the last day."
It is a great privilege to be the chosen of God. It is a high calling. In Matthew 5:13 Jesus said to his followers, "Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thence forth good for nothing but to be trodden underfoot of men." The tragedy is losing the savor, because you cannot be salted again. The salt does not decide to be salt; it is salt because it has salt ingredients. Jesus said, "Ye are the salt of the earth" "but if..." This gives us the power to chose to remain as salt or not. The latter means we will be good for nothing but to be trodden under foot of men. When you read Hebrews 6:4-6 it says "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame." This reminds me of 2 Timothy 2V19, 20 which says, "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure having this seal, the Lord knowth them that are His, and let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth and some to honour and some to dishonour." God knows who will deny Him. In Romans 9v19-23 the bible says, "thou wilt say then unto me, why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted His will? Nay, but O man who art thou that repliest God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over clay of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour and another unto dishonour? What if God willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to desctrucion and that He might make known the vessels of mercy, WHICH HE HAD AFORE PREPARED UNTO HIS GLORY,". Chapter 8v27 says, "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." Verse 29-30 says, "For whom He did FOREKNOW He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son that he might be the first born among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called and whom he also called, them are also justified and whom He justified them He also glorified." Paul to the Ephesians Chap. 1v3, 4 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. According as HE HATH CHOSEN US IN HIM BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD that we should be holy without blame before Him in love." This should not worry us unless we are not spirit led. "The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God." Romans 8v16. I then enjoy reading Revelation 17v8 when it says, "And they that dwell on earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world..." Chapter 20v12 says, "...and the books were opened, and another book was opened which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works." The books of records or deeds prove the book of life correct, because we will be judged according to our works on the judgment day. In the final analysis, "LET EVERY ONE THAT NAMETH THE NAME OF CHRIST DEPART FROM INIQUITY" |
