LEVELS OF WORSHIP

Satan devided our spiritual birth right into SECULAR AND SACRED dichotomy. The dichotomy tells us, worship is only restricted to week-end events and not part of our daily or work life. Spiritual convictions are not accepted in the business world, as such are regarded as private matter not belonging to public life in the secular world. And yet this is far from truth.

The Bible in 1 Cor. 10:31 says, "10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

In Col. 3:17 the Bible says,"3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him"

Christians cannot buy the mirth of the secular/sacred dichotomy. There is no neutral ground, every act of obedience to our creator is worship.

WE WORSHIP DAILY.

In 1 Peter 4:11 the Bible says, "4:11 If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

We cannot isolate worship to the end of the week, to a certain time and day only. It should be a seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day experience. A week end event should be a crowning act of our daily activities.

Paul in Ephesians 6:5-8 said, "6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are [your] masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether [he be] bond or free."

Our daily worship is the foundation upon which all levels of worshiping are based, without which we cannot worship correctly.
The reason why many have problems with public worship, family worship, private worship it is because, basically God is not always, leading their daily lives.

WE WORSHIP PRIVATELY.

Everyday is made perfect as we naturaly pray, sing and praise God throughout the day; same as SMOKE ascended to heaven daily as sacrifices in the tarbernacle. There should be a godly habit of responding to all events and issues in life by turning to God in praise or for deliverance.
The Bible in James 1:17 says, " 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
When uncomfortable events come our way, still we should thank the Lord for His unfailing protection and provision. In Phil.2:13 we read " 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure."
Our response to painful events, people, things or actions determines how we worship God. In Job 1:20-22 the Bible says, "1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly."
There is no event where complaining, bitter spirit or murmuring is acceptable or proper. In 1 Cor. 10:13 we read, "10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]."
That is why in Romans 8:28 we read, " 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose."

There are biblical examples of God's people who set apart times to worship God daily. David in Psalms 5:3 says, " 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct [my prayer] unto thee, and will look up." In verse 119:164 he said, "Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments." . In Daniel 6:10 we read," 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."

There are times when we should be FASTING.This is a deliberate foregoing of food, or food and water. It can be missing one meal or more. From one day or more.
The reasons differ, either we fast, to discern God's word, to repent from sin, for the work of God, to overcome temptations, deliverance from enemies, to give yourself to special times of worship, when calamities fall on us or others, to exorcise demons or to choose spiritual leaders.
Fasting in itself does not merit God's grace. It is your attitude before God and what you do during fasting. While fasting, we are to spend time praying, reading scriptures, and singing. To fast, without things like prayer and reading of scripture is DIETING and has no spiritual benefit at that point in time.

WE WORSHIP AS A FAMILY.

When our private worship is in place we naturaly love to have our family prayer in place. A christian family should be a house of praise and prayer to God daily. Children should be taught to see life as all related to God. Family worship should not be ONLY at night time, BUT ALL DAY.
In Deuteronomy 6:4-7 we read, " 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD: 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. "
All of our life should be rooted and grounded in our creator. We should not leave anything to chance. Prayer time should mark the entire day.Pray for each other, when you get into the car, when trial times come. It is also important to set apart days for fasting as a family and prayer together.
It is not wise to go through a mere ritual of a family altar at night, but the rest of the day was secular, that is, devoide of worship and praise that family is guilty of hypocrisy.

The Bible in Jeremiah 10:25 reads, "10:25 Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate."

The above verse explains why some evangelical homes produce ungodly rebels. Parents do not have time for their own children and spend time working for other families at the expense of theirs.
The father should lead in family worship and in his absence, the mother. The father is the high priest of his family. He blesses his family. Gen. 49:2 reads, " 49:2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father." In verse 28 we read, " 49:28 All these [are] the twelve tribes of Israel: and this [is it] that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them." 2 Samuel 6:20 a, " 6:20 a, Then David returned to bless his household."

The importance of family prayer is to teach children to talk to God and for them to believe God answers prayers. Christians who do not worship as a family and parents who do not teach their children at home do so with the assumption that it is the purpose of their church school to teach their children about God. It is the responsiblity of ALL PARENTS to teach their children about JESUS,that He died for our sins, He forgives sins and is coming again.

WE WORSHIP IN PUBLIC.

In public worship two different things happen:
1. Internal worship takes place in the hearts of the people.
2. External worship takes place in verbaly and visibly in the congregation.

Internal worship: This is personal. It refers to the inner attitudes of the heart and mind while engaged in worship. It is the subjective feelings in our hearts at worship. It has to do with our spirits and only we and God knows if we are truely worshiping. Its not perceived by the five senses and others cannot judge whether we are actually enganged in internal worship.

External worship:This refers to the outward acts we do or say while we are in public worship. External worship can be seen, and others can judge what we are doing. This includes hyms, and other formalities which include visible and audible parts of worship which differ from one denomination to the other.

Of the two, internal worship is the essence of true worship. Internal worship is more crucial and necessary than external worship. Internal worship has to do with the ESSENCE of worship while the External has to do with the FORM of worship.

Many Christians and /or denominations, are regarded spiritual, because of their "External" activity. With the External, there is a risk, that is why Paul in 2 Tim. 3:5 said, " 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

An overconcern with Forms and Ceremonies reveals an overemphasis on external worship. Worship should be internal centered and not on TRADITION.

The Bible in Mark 7:5-9 reads " 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with [their] lips, but their heart is far from me. 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men. 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, [as] the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Jesus was quoting the book of Isaiah 29:13 which reads, " 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:"

We read in John 4:23,24, " 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

The following points should be understood.

1. We direct our worship to the Father. He is the center of all worship.

2. We have the father of our faith Abram, who gave us a good example of worship.

3. We have other examples of biblical worship.

May God be with you always and keep you from falling.

AMEN.
